Description

Biowaste Basic provides a simple system for decontaminating small quantities of liquid waste. It is based on the collection and subsequent chemical decontamination of liquid waste produced in a Biosafety Facility.

It operates semi-automatically; the equipment alerts the user to the internal status of the waste tank and suggests the next step to take.

Decontamination is performed using chemicals that are easy to use and readily available on the market.

Once the volume has been decontaminated, pressing a button drains the tank into the general drainage line.

Since the volumes are small, neutralization of the decontaminated waste is not necessary. If necessary, a neutralization protocol would be applied.

Smaller units include a sink that operates automatically via a contactless electronic sensor (in accordance with UNE EN 12128:2004).

Biowaste Basic consists of the following components:

• Sink unit with a “touchless” faucet in accordance with UNE EN 12128:2004. (SMALL UNITS ONLY)
• Unit constructed of AISI 304 stainless steel. Waste tank made of polypropylene.
• Pumping unit from the tank to the sewer system.
• An emergency eyewash station can be optionally incorporated.

Operation:

• Contaminated liquids are drained through a stainless steel sink, as are liquids from the handwashing basin. The Biowaste Unit’s faucets are activated by infrared sensors, eliminating the need for manual contact.
• Once the Biowaste tank reaches capacity, an indicator will light up to signal the next decontamination process, while simultaneously deactivating the sink faucet.
• A defined volume of BIOCIDE (TCI) is added to proceed with the chemical decontamination of the effluents in the tank.
• Wait for a period of time, between 4 hours and overnight (recommended).
• If contaminated material continues to be added, the unit will detect it and issue a warning, shutting off the built-in or external sink faucet.
• Once decontamination is complete, press the drain button. The Biowaste unit will pump the decontaminated liquid into the main sewer system.
